Fermata Feb 4, 2022: Working Restfully
Fermata is the weekly newsletter describing some of the past week’s highlights from Notes of Rest, which is my spiritual retreat ministry that interweaves text, music, and questions for the sake of cultivating stillness, introspection, and creativity in communities so that all may rest. I'd love to host a Notes of Rest for your church, seminary, or affinity group. Feel free to reply to this email to start the conversation!
Recap: Notes of Rest for an international small group, "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" Devotional Series
Hi everyone,
This past week I hosted my first Notes of Rest for an entirely international group! It was for a virtual Bible study group based out of Vancouver's Richmond Presbyterian Church but with people joining from around the world. We sat in 2 Thessalonians 3:6-13 and thought about how to work restfully. Just like the original community of Thessalonica, we on the call contemplated the current season of life we're in with God and how that relationship affects our sense of work and rest. It was good news to remind ourselves that Jesus provides rest for us in every season of life - somehow, some way. He'll return one day, and that ultimate rest will be glorious.
How does this season of life with God shape your relationship to work and rest? What example does your work ethic set for your church community?
In other news, the Great is Thy Faithfulness devotional for the Rest Assured Devotional Series is up! You can read the entire series here.
May The Lord grant us rest today, for salvation has come and is coming.
abundantly,
Julian
