Dearest Fellowship,

This blessed Holy Week, I’ve had a conceptual breakthrough: Notes of Rest needs to expand. I’ve been thinking about the practice of rest in terms of 5 notes, when really I think it needs to be 7. For the last little while, we’ve reflected on our practices of Salvation, Sabbath, Sleep, Stillness and Sanctuary, and I’ve been saying that Salvation is the bass note. God’s good, free gifts, as ultimately embodied in Jesus, defines our rest. But in the back of my mind I have been thinking about two other notes that need to be added to the mix, Shekinah and Slowness.
